The Story Behind Ancient Heroes of the Bible

Sometimes God places a dream in your heart long before you understand His timing.

Many years ago, when my sons were young, they wanted to buy some of the popular fictional trading cards that were all the rage. But after looking at the content, I wasn’t comfortable with what they represented. I told my boys they would have to choose something else. Needless to say, they weren’t happy!

So I asked the store clerk a simple question: “Do you have any cool Bible character trading cards?”

His answer was no. And the look he gave me said it all!

That moment sparked an idea. Why couldn’t Bible heroes be just as exciting, adventurous, and collectible as the fictional characters children loved?

I began researching and discovered something surprising. I couldn’t find anything like what I had envisioned.

And that’s where the adventure began!

With no experience in the business world and a career in nursing, I stepped into unfamiliar territory. I hired a graphic designer, followed my creative instincts, and brought Ancient Heroes of the Bible to life.

But life has a way of changing our plans.

Between raising my young sons, experiencing personal setbacks, and beginning a writing career, I eventually set aside that first creative passion. I never imagined that one day God would lead me back to it.

Thirty years later, that dream has come full circle.

With the encouragement of my husband, Ted, we’ve brought Ancient Heroes of the Bible back to life with a brand-new collection of trading cards—and a renewed vision for reaching the next generation.

People might ask, “Why now?”

Because while time changes our circumstances, it doesn’t always change what’s in our hearts.

My passion for reaching children and grandchildren with the truth of God’s Word has never faded. The stories of courage, faith, obedience, and God’s promises are just as powerful and relevant today as they were thirty years ago.

And perhaps now, more than ever, our children need to hear them.

Our world needs hope. Our world needs truth. Our world needs Jesus.

And as my husband so simply reminded me, “This is the time.”

Today, Ancient Heroes of the Bible trading cards are expanding!  Through Bible lessons, interactive games, the journey through Bible book introductions, the bedtime Bible podcast, and new collectable trading cards, our desire is to make discovering God’s Word an adventure that children and families can experience together.

We know there’s still much work ahead, but our mission is simple: to inspire a new generation to discover the heroes of faith and, most importantly, the God behind their stories.

What began as a mother’s desire to find something better for her sons has become a mission to share God’s Word with a new generation.
